- I'm a full time college student and should finish by the end of Dec 08 with a bachelors degree in Human Service (it’s the same coursework for a social work degree, but it’s not accredited by the National Asc of Social Workers).
I plan to go to work for the state dept of human services in the next few months. My application is past the initial round and I'm waiting to hear from them for an interview.
After being hired, I want to start work on an MSW degree (fall 09) while working for the state. After I get my MSW, I will be free to leave this town and move back to California without fear. Right now, I have too much fear of the unknown to do that, which is new for me; maybe it comes with age, or just a rough past 10 years…
However, I know I'm not really the driver, and the state may not hire "wonderful me" (eek!). On the other hand, I just might not be able to handle the working conditions in the Human Services office as an assistance payments worker. My job would be to determine applicants' eligibility for financial assistance programs and maintain ongoing cases (way too many cases). After December, if I think I have the guts, I can go to CPS- child protective services. There is a lot of poverty (30% of the population is below the poverty line), drugs, high unemployment rates, and misery in this town.
Of course, the Universe may have other plans and I may end up staying in this icky town.
If so, I know that I'll have found my lifework right under my nose, because I think it all happens the way it's supposed to if you let go and just be open to what ever comes to you while you travel through life.
When I used to try to make it the way I thought it should be, I was always disappointed. After all, it's a big responsibility, being in charge of your own destiny and all.
I think I'll just take all the guidance that infinite mind sends my way, and I can only do that if I stay open to the cues and don't resist or fear the change.

I am still flailing around at this whole concept.
I have acceptance regarding the long future, but I forget that acceptance part when my buttons are being pushed in the now!
I never seem to realize it was a great chance for me to change an old pain-body tactic until I blow it and react.
I know I can learn it though...
It just takes practice for something to become a part of me. I guess that practice is what makes it a deeper learning experience. The more I practice something the more deeply entrenched it becomes in my being.
We know a little practice is all it takes for many people to become addicted to drugs, alcohol, violence, pain and lives lived without future or commitment.
The same goes for becoming immersed in the good stuff in life, such as living with purpose, character, and helping others fulfill their potential and destiny.
